The Mt. Juliet Planning Commission unanimously approved renovations for Primrose School of Mt. Juliet during Thursday’s meeting.
Primrose School of Mt. Juliet, a private day care center, plans to renovate their facility internally and externally.
The preschool will add a 2,067 square-foot classroom on the southwest corner of the facility while making further changes to its exterior including new doors and windows on 1.44 acres.
Primrose’s renovations would bring the school’s entire area to 13,351 square feet.
A playground area on artificial turf currently stands on this part of the property.
Primrose Schools has more than 12 day care centers in the Nashville area.
In other business, the Planning Commission unanimously approved a site plan for a commercial development on West Division Street.
Robinson Properties, a Mt. Juliet-based construction company, plans to build a beauty salon and a coffee shop on the north side of West Division Street.
The developers said they would remove a single-family house, a shed, a septic system, and gravel parking and drive aisle for this development.
City officials said access to the development would be through full movement on 4th Avenue and West Division Street. However, they are concerned over additional traffic north of 4th Avenue.
These officials have not proposed a cross access connection to the east side of the development.
The Planning Commission also approved renovating a Shell gas station on Lebanon Road.
Paliba LLC, a Lebanon-based construction company, plans to renovate this gas station by making exterior changes to the convenience store — removing a portion of the fuel canopies to make room for future development, reconfiguring the fuel pumps to six pumps and 12 handles, and converting the car wash building into office space.
They also plan to have a new storefront for the center of the north façade.
City officials said the convenience store will remain the same size at 4,239 square feet and the new number of pumps does not exceed the maximum permitted at the Lebanon Road location.
They also said the access point will remain unchanged with connections from Lebanon Road and Park Glen Drive.
The Planning Commission also approved the final plat for the Canebrake subdivision’s first phase on Devonshire Road.
Wilson & Associates, a Franklin-based engineering consultant, plans on building 42 single-family houses for Canebrake’s first phase.
They said they will build this subdivision at the southern end of Devonshire Road adjacent to Davidson County through five phases with a total of 276 lots.
The Wilson County Planning Commission approved this subdivision as a sketch plat in 2020 before reapproving Canebrake in 2021 after the subdivision’s plat had expired.
Canebrake is located within Mt. Juliet’s urban growth boundary and is zoned as a Wilson County rural residential and suburban residential development (R-1 and R-2 Cluster).
City officials said the developers will comply with the city’s subdivision regulations for the development, however the subdivision will be served by Metro Sewer due to its proximity to Davidson County.
